A search engine is like a huge world ‘Index’. You use it to look up Internet sites located around the world. You can search using key words. For example. If you wanted to search for a dressmaker in Melbourne who specialised in eveningwear you would type in ‘dressmaker Melbourne evening’ and you would get a list of web sites to visit (known as ‘search results’). You can then click on the addresses and be taken straight to the site.
Each search engine works differently. Some scan for information in the title or header of the document; other ’s look at the bold ‘headings’ on the page for their information. The fact that search engines gather information differently means that each will probably yield different results. Therefore, it’s wise to be registered with more than one search engine. When we build your Yodel™ United Kingdom website we will automatically add the appropriate key words and phrases (called metatags). When your website is submitted to any Search Engine, this is what the Search Engine looks for. We will submit your website, free of charge, to Google. However, a free Search Engine is never as effective as a paid service. You can submit your Yodel™ United Kingdom website to any paid Search Engine or Directory at any time you like.
Yes. Many businesses use their website to communicate with existing customers who already know you. You can tell your customers your URL (internet address) and let them know of special offers, discounts, etc. This is why we recommend you put your URL on all of your stationery, business cards, business signs, vehicles, etc.
Possibly the most frequently asked questions of them all! Just to give you help on this topic, when your Ad is created to run on Google™ and Yahoo! We control your expenditure by setting a daily budget is allocated to your account. This daily budget is derived from your total advertising spend.
To ensure that your total budget lasts over the days of your subscription package, your daily budget is split over the days of your package. We spread the delivery of your ad throughout the day in order to stay within your budget.
In the case that your Ad may not be showing when you look for it, it is probably due to the fact that you have used up your daily budget. Now this is both a good thing and a bad thing. Firstly it’s good because it means your getting qualified user traffic being directed to your website. This is also a potentially bad because it means your not reaching the full range of users that are actively searching for your products or services. You can try increasing your daily budget to reach more users searching for your products.
Reaching your daily budget can occur a lot more in some instances where Google™ has a huge influx of traffic in a short amount of time. Be prepared for this in seasons why by you normally get a lot of customers in your own business, by contacting us for a Short Period Budget Boost. Contact any one of our Marketing consultants and we’ll work out a package for you.
Your Ads will appear along side or above the search results on Google™.com search results pages. Or if your using Yahoo!, your ad’s may appear on top, along to side and even below the search results.
Additionally, your Ads could appear on the search and content sites and products in the Google™ and Yahoo! Network. Currently, the Google™ Network is the largest online advertising network available. So you can be certain that your Ads reach your target audience with Google™ AdWords.
Google™ and Yahoo! believes strongly in providing high-quality and relevant advertising to our users, so Google™ AdWords and Yahoo! Search marketing does not rank ads solely on cost.
Ad placement is based on your maximum budget and quality score. The higher your daily budget, the better chance you have to be in the Gold section.
There is no way to reserve top placement in the AdWords program –
Your quality score is how well your ad performs – hence how many times users click on it. It’s also how much they like your web page. So the best way to improve the position of your Ad is to improve your quality score. So if your advert is performing well, however your website isn’t getting enough enquiries, you should improve your quality score by increasing your website quality.
We have expert Web Designers who can redo your entire website using Yodel™ United Kingdom Web Editor, contact us for more information on what services we can offer you.
You can change your keywords once a month by the following ways: Calling your account manager. Emailing or Faxing them to:
Skype +44 20 8123 1599
Email: info@yodel.co.uk
Each month, your Yodel™ United Kingdom account manager will email you a monthly report with figures on how your Ad is performing on Google™. It will show which keywords were searched, and how many clicks you received from those searches. Furthermore, Yodel United Kingdom can now track phone calls originating from your website as well. If you find your report has a lot of searches, but not enough clicks, you may want to consider upgrading to a higher package. Contact one of our marketing consultants to discuss your options.
Example:
- Your advert shows up at 11am, stops showing at 1pm, but shows again at 3pm.
This is another issue that concerns your daily budget. If you’re finding that your Ad is being periodically displayed throughout the day, this is because your Ad is being spread out over the 24hrs of operation.
In most instances, you may be halfway through your budget for the day and Google™ and Yahoo! is spreading out your Ads during the 24 hours to ensure that you appear evenly throughout the day. This is more for your benefit as our technology detects trends and shows your advert during peak times while reserving your ad during non-peak times. Fortunately we can schedule your ads to start and end at certain times in order to make the most of your spend.

Yodel™ United Kingdom will send you a simple Content Collection Booklet which will be a guide for your content – all you have to do is complete the booklet with your text and send us some images.
Or, if you have brochures, advertising material, material from your suppliers, testimonials from your customers, a copy of your business plan, you can send us these and we will build your FirstSiteT website from that material.
Or you can call us and we will guide you through the process and make suggestions.
You can also email it to info@yodel.co.ukYou can either update the information yourself, for something minor this takes just a few minutes, or alternatively you may wish to get us to update the information for you (charges apply for this service).
Yes you can. We provide you with easy to use tools to go in and change your text, graphics, design template, fonts, colours etc. You only need very basic computer skills to do this.
There is a limit of 4 images on each of the 4 pages. This has been designed like this to ensure that your site is fast and easy to access. Pictures take up a lot of room and can slow down access to your site. Remember that your customers are paying to be online. You really need only just enough information on your site for your customers to become interested enough to phone you, email you, or come to see you.
In the future we anticipate adding a “catalogue” option to our Yodel™ United Kingdom software to allow your customers to see many of your products and actually buy them on line.
There is a limit of 300 words per page. Our research has indicated that the visitors to your website do not want to see too much information. The word limit is also designed to restrict the amount of scrolling your visitors will have to do on any given page.
Eg. Change ‘Events’ to read ‘Fund Raising Activities’.
Yes. You can call your pages anything you like. We have only made suggestions as to what you might call your pages.
A domain name is your address on the web. Just as your street address allows people to find your house your domain name allows people to find your home page (the first page of your internet site). An example of a domain name is www.yourbusiness.co.uk. Where “www” is the world wide web; “yourbusinessname” is the name of your business, and “:.co.uk” means that you are a business registered in United Kingdom.
You can change the domain name in the future if you wish to. To do this you would need to register a new domain name and have it delegated to your site server. You could then let the old domain name lapse or you may choose to keep it and have two domain names pointing to your site.
Yes it is possible to have two or more domain names.
Your website can be accessed by anybody anywhere in the world with internet access. All they need to do is type your internet address in their browser.
Yes. You can purchase a block of 5 email accounts for an additional £60 per year (plus GST).
Hosting is the placement of your website onto the Internet through a server. Once your site is on a server, anyone with Internet access can look at your website – from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. To have your website hosted you must have the following 2 things:
1. A website
2. A domain name (see definition).
To have your website available for the world to see it must be hosted. The yearly fee pays for the hosting and the continued access to the FirstSiteT software. It also pays for FulfilNET to continuously develop new security measures and to investigate new technology that will improve the hosting service. The yearly fee also gives you access to our comprehensive Customer Support. You also have access to any software upgrades that become available.
If you want your website to be seen (by those with access to the Internet, 24 hours a day worldwide) then you have to place it on a server (see definition). You can either place it on your own server or you can rent some space (be hosted) on someone else’s server. As most small to medium sized companies don’t have their own server their websites are hosted on someone else’s server.
Each of the network servers we use has specific security to prevent denial of service attacks. They are configured to create a maze effect so hackers can’t get to valuable data. Advanced firewalls cordon them off from the ‘open’ internet. Network engineers who can detect and thwart hacking attempts monitor them 24/7. There are also physical security measures in place. Visitors are escorted in the building at all times and intruder and fire alarms are monitored 24/7.
FulfilNET has been designing websites for SMEs since 1998. Yellow Pages in New Zealand use FulfilNET’s software. So does the Catholic Church in Australia. We’re financially secure and you know who we are.
If you cancel your hosting fee you are effectively cancelling your site with us. We will provide you with a hard copy of your site for your reference, but unfortunately we are not able to provide you with a soft copy. The reason for this is that your design template and information are not stored together, rather they are served up together but independently from one another. This does offer an advantage in that it allows you or us to quickly and easily change the design of your site.
A transfer to html pages can be requested but a fee of £180 + gst applies.
It's compatible with PC only.
To maintain your FirstSiteT website you need the following:
No. Your site is hosted independently of your computer and nearly everything to do with FirstSiteT is accessed via the internet and stored on our servers, including your email, therefore it will have no noticeable effect on your PC’s performance.
Any software enhancements that we make to the software are automatically made available to all users.
The Yodel™ United Kingdom software has been in development since 1998. It is being used by a number of major organisations including the Catholic Church in Australia and the Yellow Pages company, Telecom Directories Limited, in New Zealand.
A computer that stores information that can be accessed through the world wide web network. Servers can also be used to store website information that can be accessed by any computer (with a connection to the Internet) through a browser. Two of the most common types of browsers are Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
At certain times it may be necessary for you to provide us with the password to your site. This will only be when you are experiencing a fault or want us to perform modifications to your site. During these times we do have access to your e-mail service. However, we take your privacy seriously and we are bound by the Commonwealth Government’s Privacy Act.
A firewall insulates a private network from a public network using carefully established controls on the types of request they will route through to the private network for processing and fulfilment. Firewalls typically run monitoring software to detect and thwart external attacks on the site, and are needed to protect internal corporate networks.
